Finger Painting
Finger painting is a messy adventure that every child should experience. The amount of work required setting up and actually getting the paint on the paper never seems to merit the five minutes most children will spend on this activity but it is fun and they are lovely to keep.
Be prepared for mess and wear old clothes.
Wet the paper first to allow the paint to slide better. Drop some paint on the paper and let your child run their fingers through it to make patterns on the page.
They can make finger prints or make patterns running their fingers along the page. A good picture to create is a tree with lots of finger prints as leaves.
For variety you can add salt, sand or sugar to the paint for texture. You could also have them paint on a plastic tray rather than on paper. You can then wither wash off the paint or press a white sheet of paper onto the painted tray and transfer their picture to the paper.
