Papier Mache Piggy Bank
This papier mache piggy bank is fun to make with the kids and something they can keep and use.
You Will Need
Papier-mache paste
Newspaper
Baloon
Paper Egg Carton
Glue
Pipe cleaner
Paintbrush
Pink Paint
Marker
Utility knife
Pour the papier-mache paste into a container. Tear the newspaper into squares or strips then inflate and tie the balloon. Have your child dip the squares or strips into the paste then paste them on the balloon making sure their edges overlap. Cover the balloon with many layers of pasty paper and let it dry for a day or two.
Cut six sections from the egg carton. Glue one section onto the tied end of the balloon for the pigs nose. Glue for sections onto the underside for the pigs feet. Cut the remaining section in half and glue one piece onto each side of the pigs head for ears. Use a curled pipe cleaner for the pigs tail. Cover the nose, feet, ears and tail with paper squares or strips and paste and let them dry.
Have your child paint the pig pink and add details with the marker. Use a utility knife to cut a money slot in the top.
